There isn't much that can beat a good beer at the right time. The world of beer has seen something of a renaissance in the last decade or so, with the rise of craft breweries making for an incredible choice and range of brewed beverages to choose from. Of course, as the industry of craft beer has boomed in size, competition has also grown. Because of the high levels of competition, breweries often feel the need to do something different in order to stand out from the crowd. The results of this have ranged from exciting cult hits to bizarre oddities with little going for them outside of novelty value. This list takes a look at 17 of the strangest beers to have come out of craft breweries. From beverages served from dead animals, to ingredients that are (literally) out of this world, these don't make for your typical pints.

17. Rogue Ale's Beard Beer

Rogue Ale's Beard Beer makes use of possibly the strangest yeast strain of any beverage. After someone joked that master brewer John Maier's beard would be a perfect place to grow yeast, they decided to run with it, and thousands of bottles of beers have now been spawned by one man's beard.
