It's Time To Celebrate The Joy Of Having Stuff

In a bid to help encourage and celebrate the collection of stuff, SafeStore have launched their #stuffisgreat campaign which looks to highlight the importance, and embrace the love of the stuff we own. Whether it be the sentimental, quirky, strange, unique, or downright valuable, our possessions represent who we are. They remind us of cherished memories, our experiences, and give an insight in to our own passions and interests. In short, stuff helps make us who we are.

Addressing a world where more people seem to be wanting to take the minimalist approach to living, and in a throwaway culture that increasingly views possessions as disposable, SafeStore have released a series of short videos that take a look at the personal collections of 3 different enthusiasts. First up is Colin, who you can see in the video above.

Since 2008 Colin, who describes himself as a petrol head, has been amassing and maintaining a huge collection of slot cars. These are miniature cars used for racing, and known best through the best selling slot car brand the world; Scalextric. After initially buying the cars simply to race, Colin used to spend much of his time repairing and restoring those which often became damaged. After a while he made the decision that to keep his cars in pristine condition, while also be able to race them whenever he wanted, he would buy two of each car - one to race, one to keep untouched. Now with over 1200 cars in the collection, Colin's favourite is a sterling silver Dodge Viper which was bought for him by his wife. The car is thought to be worth £800, and is one of his most prized possessions.
