9 Lies You Were Told About Science In School

A little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Science teachers do a wonderful job, no doubt about it. But when you need to hold the attention of 30 15-year-olds who are all too distracted by their raging hormones and cystic acne to pay attention to what you have to say about amorphous solids, sometimes it's better to just over-simplify. This can lead to a fair few misunderstandings through the years. As we all know, a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing, but it does get the little brats out of your classroom much quicker. So, it's not that your teachers were lying to you, it's just that the more we find out about science, the more complicated it gets and who really has the time to go through the complexities of gravity wells and superfluids in the last period before lunch? However, there are a couple of common lies misconceptions that we're all told at some point that can be quite easily rectified.
