16 Things Newcastle Fans Need To Know About Georginio Wijnaldum

The Dutch international will be an exciting acquisition for the Magpies.

Newcastle United are agonisingly close to completing their first signing of the summer after they agreed a £14.5 million fee for PSV Eindhoven midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum. The Dutch international is flying across to Tyneside on Friday looking to conclude a deal, with the Magpies hoping other signings - such as Anderlecht forward Aleksandar Mitrvoic - will quickly follow. It has been a frustrating summer up until this point for Magpies supporters, with the Toon faithful growing frustrating and impatient at Newcastle's lack of immediacy in the transfer market despite Mike Ashley's end-of-season promise that "investment" would be made in the playing squad. Sunderland, Everton, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain were all credited with an interest in 24-year-old Wijnaldum this summer but it is Newcastle who look to have managed to convince the Dutch international midfielder to make the move to the Premier League. Toon supporters will hope this is not the end, but merely the beginning, of Newcastle's summer spending - and if Wijnaldum's acquisition is anything to go by then the other names who will follow him to St James' Park could also be equally as exciting. But who exactly is Wijnaldum? And what can Newcastle fans expect to see from their new signing? Well here are 16 things Newcastle United supporters need to know about attacking-midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum...
