Arsenal midfielder Alex Song has finalised his £15 million move to Spanish giants Barcelona after successfully completing his medical today.
Song is the second big name to depart Arsenal this summer following Robin van Persie, who left to join Manchester United earlier in the week. The Cameroon international passed his medical earlier today and has signed a five-year deal with the famous club.
Following news that Song was set to sign for Barcelona, the Mail Online claimed that Arsenal had bashed the player, labelling him lazy and unprofessional. Despite Arsenal apparently becoming annoyed with Alex Song’s efforts, the 24-year-old was snapped up by Barcelona where he will link up with former Arsenal player Cesc Fabregas and others, such as Lionel Messi and David Villa.
The Barcelona doctor Ricard Pruna said:
“His body fat percentage is extremely low and he has good muscle quality. I don’t think he’s had muscle injuries since he was 17, and that’s really good news. He passed all the tests and he’s available to the manager.”
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger seems to be under criticism after letting two key players leave the club this summer and despite spending over £40 million on the likes Santi Cazorla, Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud, The Gunners couldn’t manage to start the new campaign with a win.
