Late last night Twitter was bursting with talk that Barcelona had offered David Villa to Arsenal AND £13 million in an attempt push through a money & exchange deal for The Gunners’ wantaway captain Robin Van Persie to the Nou Camp.
Arsenal Times reported on the offer by posting the following message…
The story of Barcelona wanting to offload Villa after an injury-hit season to fund a Van Persie deal have also gathered steam at Spanish website Sport.es and although Arsene Wenger has been insistent that he won’t part with his prized asset, privately he knows his hands are tied and he is in the same situation as he was 12 months ago with Samir Nasri who eventually left to Manchester City in a £25 million move when he refused to sign a contract extension.
Wenger could be interested in bringing Villa to the Emirates Stadium as a quick-fit replacement for Van Persie. The French manager has been linked with a move for Villa before when he played for Valencia and the 3o-year-old’s scoring record is as good as anyones across Europe. He scored 108 goals in 166 appearances at Valencia, notched 23 goals in 49 games against Barcelona and for the Spain national side scored 51 goals in 82 appearances, though he did just miss the successful Euro 2012 campaign with an injury.
In 2009, Goal.com claimed the Arsenal manager wanted to bring Villa to the Premier League and the following season, Metro reported that Villa turned down a move to the Gunners to join Barcelona.
Arsenal fans will certainly be hoping the Van Persie saga (and also let’s not forget the Theo Walcott saga as he similarly has 1 year left to run on his contract and he has stated he won’t sign an extension unless Van Persie did) doesn’t drag on all the way into the start of next season and disrupts the opening of their game as the Fabregas and Nasri situation did last year.

we need RVS to stay
If this is true Wenger should jump at the opportunity.
This would be a brilliant bit of business; but Arsenals wage structure could be another problem. Barcelona pay the highest wages of any club in the world. Somehow I think a 40 mil player could have quite a wage packet.
We dont need RVP, he needs us, I would bite barcas new managers hand off at the chance of david villa and £13m. Wenger could buy anoth quality player with £13m.

We can not say we don’t need him he is good player. but the reality is the manger who never discuss with the captain we have to for get about him and buy new player we did good move for earlier af this season. We just need to make tight the defence and one replacement of RVP. This is uor year (THE GUNNERs WILL COME BACK AND GUIDE YOU)

Get what we can 4 rvp as soon as possible as the turmoil it would cause at the club would be detrimental to team spirit. Get rid of walcott as he has had plenty of chances but still flatters to decieve. Buy M’vila straight away b4 his price goes up and i think we wil be ok. Is it me, but why is it always a saga when arse are thinking of buying a player – is it arsene’s fault or is he tied by the chairman and the board?
I would prefer to go with Iniesta instead..Barca should trade in their best player if they want Arsene’s Best

A straight swap deal would be more than enough to be fair, both players are around the same age although I would say I think David Villa is better.
Commitment is what required of Arsenal players beside that any player wishing to leave can do that anytime any day. RVP is leaving Arsenal as a looser for not helping Arsenal to win even a spoon during his 7 years as a player. He deceived the Board and the fans by saying he is committed to the cause Arsenal strugles but decided not to extend his contract after showing for just one season that he has really developed to a man in football. For Walcot he can go to anywhere if only he is playing for Arsenal because of RVP after all he is not maturing fast football wise he should stay and learn from Ox. The board should do their part by acquiring quality and capable hands to bring back the glory of Arsenal.

i think most arsenal fans have now realised that rvp is going now,he could have been a legend like henry and bergcamp,instead he is fastly becoming another na$ri with the added kick in the b-ll-cks of him telling us our beloved arsenal are basically a bunch of loosers with no vision.
i believe with the added players and hopefully a few more,with rvp we really stood a chance this year.
You must ask your self what are the chances of him completing another season without an injury,one in eight years are not good betting odds.
i dont believe david villa will come to arsenal,but its a nice thought,arsenal need now to stop f-cking about and get this buying spree back on track and f-ck rvp

Umm you saw how van Persie played when he had a team of amazing midfielders next to him in the euros and even when arsenal had big games rvp disappeared, villa would not only be a legit striker but a great piece of character to come to arsenal. I say take villa and affeley and give them theo as well or throw puyol in with villa and give them rvp.

I am particularly confused since this RVP transfer saga,but i am just blaming our manager as well as the board members for whatever that happens with RVP.If he doesn’t want to continue with us let him go,then we look for another person to replace him cos there are a lot of players that can even play more better than him that is what i believe.All this things we are doing is not the way out i think we are wasting our time let him go after all fabregas left us last season but at the end of the season we could be able to finish at the top tree.So for me that is how God want it personally i like David villa more than RVP so if wenger can get him for us i think it is more better for us.I am not talking about walcot cos he is not a football player he will be better for track events like hundred miter race e.t.c.let him go to hail with that his stupid pattern of football victor Moses is better than him finally please wenger don’t let bendthner go.
