Arsenal Transfer News: Gunners Have To Pay £40 Million For Luis Suarez

The Sun. The Uruguayan's agent Pere Guardiola, brother of Bayern Munich manager Pep, believes that figure will trigger his client's release clause and finally allow Suarez to quit. The forward, who last season came runner up to Robin van Persie in the Premier League goalscoring charts, has been angling for a move away from Merseyside all summer. But Arsene Wenger's side would have to stump up a huge £40 million to land his services. The Londoners have already seen a £30 million bid, rising to £35 million with add-ons, rejected, and remain the only club to have made a concrete bid for the player. And even if they came up with £40 million, that may still not be enough, following a latest twist in a transfer saga that has been rumbling on for months. Liverpool claim a £40 million bid would only be enough to force them to consider offers, but that they would not be duty-bound to sell the player for that amount. Arsenal are keen on the striker, who still has six games of a 10-match-ban for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic left to serve, as Wenger looks to bolster his forward line. The veteran French manager reportedly has £70 million to spend this summer.
