Arsenal Transfer News: Gunners Told Michu Valuation Is £25 Million

Mirror. Luis Suarez, who had become the Gunner's No.1 transfer target in recent months, looks set to stay at Liverpool, which has left manager Arsene Wenger searching for alternatives. Forward Michu is believed to be on a B-list of possibilities for Wenger, but Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins is set to drive a hard bargain if Arsenal come knocking for the Spain international. Jenkins persuaded Michu to pen a new deal that ties him to the Welsh club until 2016 back in January as reward for the 27-year-old's impressive debut in England. Swansea signed the striker from Rayo Vallecano for a nominal £2 million just over 12 months ago. However, Jenkins believes he has an agreement with Michu that he can demand £25 million from any interested rivals. Michu scored 22 goals last season and has been instrumental for the Swans since their return to top flight football. But Arsenal manager Wenger is under increasing pressure to sign a new striker after his side were booed off the pitch by their own fans following yesterday's 3-1 home defeat to Aston Villa. Wenger apologised for the defeat yesterday as supporters called for him to make signings this summer, and with Suarez seemingly no longer available, Michu could now be within his sights.
