Arsenal Transfer News: Loic Remy Bid Could Fail

Daily Star. The QPR ace is understood to be high on Wenger's transfer wishlist but the board prefer Vitesse Arnhem€™s Ivory Coast hitman Bony. Dubbed "the new Didier Drogba", Bony has impressed members of the Gunner's hierarchy by hitting an impressive 37 goals in 32 starts for club and country this season. Only Lionel Messi of Barcelona and Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo have more goals in a major European league than Bony's current tally of 31. However, Wenger is a huge admirer of fellow countryman Remy, with the 26-year old proving that he has all the tools at his disposal to be a success in the Premier League following his goal exploits for doomed QPR. He looks almost certain to move on in the summer with the Hoops consigned to Championship football next season and the £6 million relegation clause inserted in his contract when he signed from Marseille in January is almost certain to be activated. He has scored 5 goals in 11 appearances for Harry Redknapp's beleagured basement side this season and is wanted by a string of Premier League clubs including Tottenham, Liverpool, Newcastle and Everton. Bony is also not short of admirers, and is wanted by several clubs including Chelsea and West Ham. That means Wenger's clash of opinion with the club board over who to sign could lead to him missing out on both as the two parties appear to have reached an impasse.
