Arsenal Transfer News: Mesut Ozil £40 Million Deal Done

According to Goal.com, the German international will be on a deal of around £130,000 a week until 2018, taking pride of place not only as Arsenal's most expensive player but their highest-paid as well. Ozil had been in negotiations with the Gunners since Sunday and underwent the second part of his medical in Munich, where he is currently based with the Germany squad ahead of this week's World Cup qualifying fixtures. Arsenal have kicked their transfer activity into overdrive, with Ozil's fellow target and Palermo goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano passing his medical on Monday morning and has now agreed terms on a season-long loan. The Gunners are also in the midst of negotiations with Chelsea over a potential loan move for Demba Ba, but the next concrete signing Wenger hopes to make may see him return to the Bernabeu for Angel Di Maria. The Argentine international is the subject of a £25.8 million bid from Arsenal, who have been undeterred by the winger's assertions that he is happy in Madrid.
