A mammoth £183m buy-out clause has been added into the new signing's contract.
The 22-year-old was born in in Santo Domingo, Dominica, migrating to Andalusia at the age of six before joining Betis' youth setup in 2014. He made 29 appearances for the Seville side last season, scoring three times in the process.
Firpo is the Catalans' sixth signing of the summer, and brings their total transfer spend for the window up to €255,000,000. Striker Antoine Griezmann joined the club for £107m from Atletico Madrid last month, alighting alongside Ajax's Frenkie de Jong (£65m) and goalkeeper Neto.
Meanwhile, Brazilian winger Malcom has went the other way, joining Zenit St Petersburg last Tuesday for a reported £36.5m fee. He spent just one season at the Nou Camp.
Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know).
He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
