Brit Holidaymaker Refused Entry To America After Tweeting Joke
You on twitter and planning a trip to the United States anytime soon? Well you might just have to be careful what you tweet....
BBC reports that 26 year old Brit holidaymaker Leigh Van Bryan was refused entry into the US after tweeting that he was going to "destroy America" before his trip. Shocked by the refusal of entry, Van Bryan insisted that he was referring to simply having a good time on holiday - but the US made sure he was sent home. Trade association Abta have informed the BBC that holidaymakers under no circumstances should do anything to raise "concern or suspicion in any way". The US Department of Homeland Security were the ones who found Bryan's tweets ahead of his trip to Los Angeles. His full tweet read; "Free this week, for quick gossip/prep before I go and destroy America." Bryan was sent home along with his friend Emily Bunting on arrival at Los Angeles International Airport, questioned for FIVE HOURS and then sent immediately home; "The Homeland Security agents were treating me like some kind of terrorist," Mr Bryan said. "I kept saying they had got the wrong meaning from my tweet."
