Chelsea Transfer News: Blues To Do Battle With Man City For Edinson Cavani

The Sun. The Blues need some extra firepower up front as they attempt to challenge for the Premier League title next season, while the ineffectual Fernando Torres is without a league goal in 2013. The stuttering Spaniard last scored for the Blues back in December, while Chelsea have looked particularly blunt up front in European competition this year due to new signing Demba Ba's ineligibility for Europa League competition. And Cavani could be the man to fire the West London side to domestic and European glory in the Champions League next season if he can replicate the same form in the Premier League that has made him such a fearsome finisher in Italy. The Uruguayan has hit 103 goals in 137 Napoli games since moving from Palermo in 2010 and has hit 30+ goals in each of his first three seasons at the Serie A side. But the Italians insist they will accept no less than the £52 million buy-out clause in the striker€™s contract, which runs until 2015. Cavani left Palermo in 2010 in a deal worth just ‚17 million but is today one of the most highly valued - and highly rated - forwards in European football.
