Chelsea Transfer News: Blues To Sign Willian?

Mirror. Blues owner Roman Abramovich has telephoned Anzhi's wealthy owner Suleyman Kerimov to gazump Spurs by making a £32 million bid for the 25-year-old. That's £2 million more than Tottenham have offered to the Russian club for Willian. The Brazil international was widely tipped yo join Spurs after completing a medical with the north London club on Thursday, but instead he has now sensationally held talks with Chelsea. Tottenham had been hoping to complete a double swoop for both Willian and Argentine winger Erik Lamela in a bid to fill the void set to be left by Gareth Bale, whose move to Real Madrid is imminent. Madrid's website are even selling No.11 shirts with Bale's name on the back. The White Hart Lane club were set to break their transfer record for the third time this summer with the £30 million capture of Willian, after signing Paulinho from Corinthians and then Roberto Soldado from Valencia. However, Chelsea's late interest in the player could wreck their plans of reinvesting the huge procceeds they are set to receive for Bale, with Real prepared to pay a world-transfer-record-breaking fee.
