Chelsea’s long serving midfielder Frank Lampard has talk down rumours of a move to join David Beckham at LA Galaxy and has pledged his future at Stamford Bridge.
The 34-year-old midfielder, who is entering the last year of his current contract, ignited rumours of a move to the US club that spread like wildfire when he was recently photographed with his former England captain Beckham at a recent Major League Soccer match.
Lampard however denied the claims to The Sun, stating that he was on holiday in Los Angeles and took the opportunity to meet up with an old friend;
“There’s nothing in that at all. I’m here in Los Angeles on holiday with [fiancee] Christine. We got engaged here last year and we love it over here.
“Steve’s over here a lot on music and football business. He organised a box so we could go to see the Galaxy game.
“Becks was suspended for the match, so he came and sat with us and we had a good laugh – that’s all.”
Lampard, who missed out on England’s Euro 2012 campaign due to a last minute injury before the squad traveled to the tournament, has revealed he can’t wait to get back on the field for Chelsea with the season now a month away.
“Now I’m really looking forward to getting back to Chelsea,” he added. “I’m feeling fit and fresh and I’m raring to go.
“My thigh strain is completely healed now and maybe missing the Euros was a blessing in disguise for me.
“I had a full summer off and I’m ready to go back to start the hard work for the new season.”
Lampard is also hoping for an England recall in the upcoming World Cup 2014 qualifiers and has not retired from England international football, hoping to play a part in tournament in Brazil.
Chelsea’s 2012/13 Premier League campaign kicks-off with game away to Wigan on Sunday, August 19th at 1.30pm.
