Frank Lampard’s possible departure from Stamford Bridge has been one of the biggest sagas so far when it comes to the comings and goings of Premier League clubs in the January Transfer Window.
His current deal at Stamford Bridge expires next summer, and the midfielder is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club from January, with possible moves to either the MLS in America or the Chinese Super League being touted.
Any potential move away from Stamford Bridge has certainly divided opinion.
Some might claim that dumping Lampard in such an undignified manner is cruel, particularly when you stop to consider the decade of service he has given the club since his move from West Ham way back in 2001.
Others however could say that the 34 year old is past his best, no longer the force he once was. That time has finally caught up with him, and that he should bow out gracefully to usher in a new era at Stamford Bridge with the likes of Oscar, Hazard, Marin and Romeu set to fill his boots in the years to come.
Personally, we believe that Chelsea would be mad to ditch Lampard, and here’s 5 reasons why.
