Chelsea Transfers: Predicting Mourinho's Plan B & C If Rooney Bid Fails

Back in the middle of July, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho claimed Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney was his sole transfer target this summer. The Blues boss has seen two bids for the 27-year-old fail, the most recent of which was £25 million plus add-ons. The so-called "Special One" is determined to land the England international this summer, but today it was revealed that his opinion that it is "Rooney or bust" has thawed somewhat. Mourinho told a press conference this afternoon that he has a "plan B and C" if United continue to stand by their stance that Rooney is not for sale. It is understood that there is a growing concern at Stamford Bridge that the Premier League champions will not sell Rooney - particularly to a direct title rival - but Mourinho admitted they are still interested. The summer transfer window only has another two weeks left to run before it slams shut for six more months on September 2, and therefore, Chelsea may have to act fact in pursuing alternatives if they want a new striker.
