More on this to come.... -Original Story Follows- Sir Alex Ferguson is thought to be giving serious consideration to retiring as Manchester United manager, according to The Express and various sources. Rumours have been sweeping across Manchester since Tuesday that the club are about to make a major announcement before Sunday's final home game of the season, against Swansea City, in which United will be presented with their 20th Premier League trophy. The speculation intensified when it emerged the club were arranging a conference call at Old Trafford with their major sponsors Nike and Aon. Senior figures at the club have thus far refused to comment on the story, which emerged at a golf day between players and staff at nearby Dunham Massey. Along with officially being presented with the Barclay's Premier League on Sunday, United have arranged an open top bus parade of Manchester on Monday, which thousands of people are expected to attend. Sources close to the United players suggest the mood in the camp was overshadowed during their golf day with speculation suggesting Ferguson is about to make a huge announcement on Sunday. Furthermore, large bets were wagered on Monday and Tuesday on Everton manager David Moyes quitting Goodison Park for Old Trafford this summer, while Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is also expected to step down from his role and move back to England at the end of the season.
