Updated: In a further update to this story, Sky Bet have now suspended all betting on Ba joining Galatasary. It is increasingly looking like a done deal. Sky Italia are reporting that Galatasary have signed Newcastle United striker Demba Ba for a fee believed to be in the region of ‚11 million (around £9 million Euros). It is believed the Turkish outfit have activated Ba's well publicised release clause, though the news of the fee is said to be £1.5 million more than the previously reported £7.5 million release. That release clause could only be triggered by clubs until July 31st, after which time Newcastle could then demand any transfer fee they wanted for last season's top scorer at St. James'. Ba's 16 goal spree for Newcastle helped elevate them to a lofty Europa League spot at Newcastle but his poor run of form towards the end of the season which culminated in him being switched over to a wide left position to accomodate the performances of Papiss Cisse and Hatem Ben Arfa, plus his pursuit of a salary north of £50,000 a week has led to his move elsewhere. Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea were both interested but in the end it is a switch away from the Premier League for Ba as he kisses goodbye to Newcastle after just one season.
