Everton 0-1 West Brom - 6 Things We Learned

Inconsistent Everton fluff their lines at home AGAIN.

A hapless Everton failed to make it three league wins in a row for the first time in almost two years, as West Bromwich Albion left Goodison Park with a 1-0 victory on Saturday. The Baggies€™ first win in six came in smash-and-grab fashion. Tony Pulis€™s side had their backs to the wall for much of the encounter, but took the lead against the run of play when Jonas Olsson€™s looping header from a corner eluded Blues keeper Joel Robles. West Brom striker Salomon Rondon attempted to claim the goal after connected with the ball as it hit the Everton net, but replays showed that it had already crossed the line. What followed was a tumultuous stream of one-way traffic coloured Blue as the Toffees laid siege towards the away goal. When they did find a way through the Baggies air-tight defence, the woodwork thwarted them, denying Ross Barkley and Tom Cleverley. Everton applied more pressure in the second half, coming closest through Gareth Barry, while a Chris Brunt shot that bobbled wide was West Brom's only response. Team news: Everton stuck with the same starting XI for the third game in a row following victories over Newcastle United and Stoke City, with Robles keeping his place in goal despite Tim Howard returning to fitness. West Brom made four changes from their defeat to Newcastle, handing striker Saido Berahino his first start since October, and drafting in Salomon Rondon, Stephane Sessegnon and Jonny Evans.
