Everton Transfers: Muhamed Besic Joins For £4 Million

Roberto Martinez makes 21-year-old Bosnian midfielder his second summer signing.

Everton have confirmed the signing of Bosnia and Herzegovina international Muhamed Besic for an undisclosed fee. He becomes Roberto Martinez's second signing of the summer. Besic has signed a five-year contract with the Toffees and has already trained with the squad in Bangkok ahead of the new season. The 21-year-old joins Gareth Barry as the second signing of the summer after completing his move from Hungarian side Ferencvaros. The player represented his nation at the World Cup but couldn't help them get through the first stage in a group which also included eventual runners up, Argentina. Besic is capable of playing both in defence and midfield, offering Martinez an energetic presence on the pitch. Delighted with his signing, Martinez told the Everton website: "Muhamed is a young footballer who has developed massively in the last two seasons. He has been playing as a centre-half and as a defensive midfielder at an incredible level."What he did with Bosnia and Herzegovina in the World Cup, he showed that he is a really mature footballer, that he covers the ground really well, that he is very dynamic and technically very gifted. He is bringing us really good strength in an important part of the side."
