After yesterday’s weigh in, we are now only hours away from the most anticipated fight of the year, as HBO pay per view presents Floyd Mayweather (43-0, 26 ko) vs Miguel Cotto (37-2, 30 ko).
Mayweather weighed in yesterday at 151 lbs, 3 pounds lighter than his Puerto Rican opponent. The face off went on a little longer than it might have, with Mayweather managing to get his first response out of Cotto for the entirety of the promotion campaign. ‘I just told him when your facing Floyd Mayweather, your facing the best…I’m different from all the opponents he’s faced, I’m a boxer, a puncher…I do everything good.’
In response Cotto answered ‘He’s never faced anyone like Miguel Cotto before, thats the reason he’s undefeated and thats the reason tomorrow, I’m going to be in charge’.
The pair face off for Cotto’s Super Welterweight (154 pound) belt in at the MGM Grand Casino in Las Vegas. Roger Mayweather stated earlier this week that the only time Mayweather has been in better shape in training was against Diego Corrales in 2001. Cotto remains confident that he is in the best shape of his career and with renewed confidence coming of the back of his rematch victory against Antonio Margarito in December, a huge night of boxing lies ahead.
I will be giving live round by round coverage of the main event, starting at 5am UK time. You can post me your thoughts on twitter @ChrisLloyd2012
