Liverpool Transfer News: £16 Million Bid For Alberto Moreno - Report

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers might be on the verge of making his first significant summer acquisition.

Sky sources claim that Liverpool have made an offer to Sevilla for their left-back Alberto Moreno. No official word yet on how much the offer is but The Guardian say it could be as high as £16 million (20 million euros) with Liverpool midfielder Suso also included into the deal.

The 21-year-old was one of Sevilla's best players last season and helped them to their Europa League winning success which also caught the eye of the Spain boss who included Moreno in his preliminary 30-man World Cup squad. He had also been linked with a move to Champions League winners Real Madrid as a replacement for the Portugese full-back Fabio Coentrao but Liverpool are looking to move quickly to secure their man.

Left full-back has been a bit of a problem position for Rodgers in his time at Liverpool with the continuing fitness concerns of Jose Enrique leading to right-footed Merseysider John Flanagan often filling in and sometimes looking awkward in an uncomfortable position. A new left-back has been a top priority and Rodgers looks happy to spend big to secure one of Europe's most promising talents in that position.

20-year-old Suso meanwhile spent last season on loan at another La Liga side Almeria and might now be keen on a move away from Anfield and back to Spain to secure more opportunities at first team football.
