Liverpool Transfer News: Asmir Begovic To Anfield?

The Sun. The £15 million-rated Bosnian international has drawn interest from a number of clubs this season, and has been watched by Arsenal and Manchester United. But the Merseyside club are now hopeful they can fend off the competition with Brendan Rodgers seeking to bring in a long-term replacement for current No.1 Pepe Reina. Begovic, 25, gave a bizarre interview in Bosnia in which he appeared to claim he would be joining Liverpool in July for pre-season training. He said:

€œI want to start preparing on July 10, with all the players of Liverpool.€
Following manager Tony Pulis' departure from the club after 7 years in charge, the goalkeeper has now also decided the time is right to move on. Stoke will welcome future England goalkeeping prospect Jack Butland to the club over the summer, which has thrown up questions as to Begovic's long-term future previously. But Pulis has always stated that he has never had any intention of selling the Bosnian and that he would stay at the Britannia. With the Midlands club currently without a manager through, that is no longer his decision to make.
