Liverpool Transfer News: Daniel Sturridge Having Medical Today

Liverpool agree terms with Chelsea's Daniel Sturridge

BBC. It is believed Liverpool have agreed a deal with Chelsea and have successfully negotiated personal terms with the player, who will be earning £60,000 a week at Anfield. However, the move is unlikely to be finalised until January when the transfer window officially opens. Sturridge has cut a peripheral figure at Stamford Bridge in recent times, and has not yet made a start under new manager Rafa Benitez, though that is partly due to a hamstring injury that has also limited him to just seven league appearances this term. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is keen on the 23 year old however, and attempted to sign him on loan back in August, but the move fell through as Sturridge wanted a permanent move. Since then, the likes of Andy Carroll, Dirk Kurt and Craig Bellamy have all moved on, leaving Luis Suarez as the club's only registered forward. The addition of Sturridge is precisely what they need right now given recent declines in their league standings, and one that will provide them with a lot more options up front going into the New Year. The England international began his career at Manchester City, where he spent three seasons and was voted young player of the year before moving to Stamford Bridge at the end of the 2008/09 season. During his time at Chelsea he spent a stint on loan at Bolton Wanderers where he impressed, scoring eight goals in twelve league appearances. He has made 96 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 24 times.
