Liverpool Transfer News: Joe Cole To Get £4 Million Pay-Off To Join West Ham

Joe Cole will get a £4 million pay-off by Liverpool to join West Ham

The Sun. Liverpool are determined that the deal goes through so they can get the player off their books. According to The Sun, he is currently earning £90,000-a-week at Anfield despite having not started a single Premier League game all season. The free transfer to West Ham will complete a miserable spell at Anfield for the midfielder, who spent all of the 2011-12 season on loan at Lille. Cole began his career at Upton Park and is a product of the West Ham youth system. He made his debut for the club as a 17-year old and went on to make 126 appearances before signing for Chelsea for £6.5 million in 2003, where he remained for seven seasons. He joined Liverpool on a free when his contract at Stamford Bridge expired, and by paying the player £4 million to leave, Liverpool would sensationally end up making a loss on him. Cole was said to be undergoing a medical at West Ham last night ahead of his return to the club, and could sign in time to play against Manchester United in the Hammers' 3rd-Round FA Cup clash this weekend. It is understood West Ham will take over the remaining 18 months of his £90,000-a-week deal at Anfield. Are you happy to see the back of Cole? Share your thoughts below.
