Liverpool Transfer News: Luis Suarez Forced To Train Alone

BBC. This latest incident of the ongoing transfer saga comes as Suarez once more reiterated earlier this week his desire to leave Anfield and join a Champions League club. Rodgers has rejected the 26-year-old's claim that he was promised he would be allowed to leave this summer if the Reds failed to qualify for Europe's top club competition. Arsenal have had two bids for the Uruguayan rejected, one of £30 million and the most recent at £1 over £40 million. That offer was designed to trigger a release the player's release clause, however, Professional Footballers' Association chief Gordan Taylor claims there is no such clause in Suarez's contract that forces Liverpool to sell for that price. Suarez is expected to submit an official transfer request later this week if his move away from Merseyside continues to be blocked. Liverpool's decision to order the player to train alone reportedly stems from poor form in pre-season rather than the ex-Ajax man's recent outburst in which he claimed promises were broken by his club. Rodgers said:

"There were no promises made - categorically none - and no promises broken. "The club and his representatives had several conversations and he knew exactly where he was at. "There has been total disrespect of the club - a club that has given him everything. "Obviously the remarks I've read are bitterly disappointing - but my job is bigger than that."
Suarez is prepared to take the issue to the Premier League for arbitration - just as he did while at former club Groningen in 2006 - to force through a transfer this summer. But Liverpool remain insistent they are not obligated to sell and Rodgers claims Arsenal's bid in excess of £40 million still falls short of the club's valuation of the controversial star.
