Liverpool Transfer News: Luis Suarez Must Hand In Transfer Request To Leave Anfield

Daily Mail. So far the Uruguayan international, who is currently contesting the Confederations Cup with his country, has given several media interviews in which he has hinted he may leave for Real Madrid but has not informed senior Anfield figures that he intends to quit. If Suarez is going to be sold to the Spanish giants as he desires, he will first have to submit an official written transfer request, while Liverpool would hope to recoup £50 million. As of yet Real are yet to make an official offer for the 26-year old. The Reds are still making plans for next season as though their top goalscorer last season will still be at the club, but behind closed doors they know they will find it difficult to hold on to a player who has made no secret of his desire to play in the Champions League. Yesterday, the striker said he was "disturbed" that the club were not playing in Europe's top club competition. And it is because of media interviews such as these and the increasing uncertainty regarding his future that Liverpool want to put the issue to bed as quickly as possible. It would not be in the best interests of either party for the current situation to drag on toward the start of the new Premier League season and the club will now ask the player to make his mind up about his future one way or the other.
