Liverpool are to set to agree a deal with Aston Villa over the signing of star striker Christian Benteke, according to The Telegraph. The Reds are now prepared to meet the Belgium's £32.5 million release clause and make the striker their second marquee signing of the summer. Initially the Merseyside club had refused to match the asking price but reports now suggest they are ready to submit the bid. The reported Interest from rivals Manchester United over the past 24 hours could have played a part in Liverpool's sudden interest. A fresh offer will come as a relief to Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, who has been eager to bring in a 'big-name' striker all summer. The 24-year-old ended last season in fine form and re-established himself under the guidance of Tim Sherwood as one of the Premier League€™s most deadly strikers. Manchester United and Chelsea had also been monitoring the player who scored 15 goals in 33 games during the 2014/15 season. Despite the reports Tim Sherwood expects his striker to stay at Villa Park.
