Liverpool Transfers: Brendan Rodgers To Miss Out On Christian Atsu?

talkSPORT. Rodgers wants the Porto youngster to boost his attacking options next season and the winger was understood to have been close on a switch to Anfield. However, since then, the Merseysiders have hit a wall with Porto over agreeing a fee. The Dragons are holding out for around £6 million for the 21-year-old, and this has led to both parties reaching a stalemate. The Ghanaian wants to leave Porto and could get his wish - but with a move to Benfica and not Anfield now being touted. Sporting Lisbon are also believed to be keen on Atsu, who is seeking a change of scenery following five seasons at the Estadio Dragao, where he won his first Primeira Liga title last season. Atsu has spent his entire career at Porto after emerging through the club's youth ranks and breaking into the senior set-up as a 19-year-old. He would later spend a season on loan at Rio Ave in 2011/12. Meanwhile, Liverpool continue to resist Arsenal's advances for Luis Suarez. The Merseyside club rejected a second, £40 million bid earlier this week.
