Liverpool Transfers: Simon Mignolet £9 Million Move CONFIRMED

BBC. The 25-year old passed a medical at the club yesterday and agreed personal terms on an undisclosed, long-term deal. The Belgian international becomes Liverpool's fourth summer signing following the acquisitions of Manchester City's Kolo Toure, Sevilla's Luis Alberto and Celta Vigo's Iago Aspas. Manager Brendan Rodgers said of the deal:

"I am delighted that we have been able to sign one of the top goalkeepers in the Barclays Premier League, Simon will join a club that will give him an opportunity to demonstrate and improve his huge talent."
Mignolet joined Sunderland from Belgian side Sint-Truiden for just £2 million in June 2010. But his market value has since sky-rocketed thanks to a series of fine performances in the Premier League recently, keeping 11 clean sheets in 40 matches last season for the Black Cats. His move to Anfield raises questions over the future of the club's current No.1 Pepe Reina, however. The Spaniard, 30, has been linked with a move back to boyhood club Barcelona, where he began his career as a youth team player in 1988. The Reds have already agreed to sign 32-year-old Manchester City defender Toure on a free transfer and finalised a deal for Celta Vigo striker Aspas, 25, for £7 million. Sevilla midfielder Alberto, 20, has joined the Merseyside club for £6.8 million, while it is still hoped deals for the highly-rated Sporting Lisbon defender Tiago Ilori, 20, and 24-year-old Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Shakhtar Donetsk can still be reached.
