Man City 4-1 Man Utd: Sergio Aguero Brace Gives Cititzens Early Bragging-Rights

Sergio Aguero netted a double to help secure a famous victory against title rivals Manchester United in a one-sided affair at the Etihad stadium. After a dominant opening 15 minutes by the hosts, it was Aguero who opened the scoring with a superb volley from an Aleksandar Kolarov cross. Manchester United eventually managed to quell the City attack following the goal, and looked to have kept the deficit to just one goal with half-time approaching. However, they crumbled on the half-time mark, with Yaya Toure tapping-in from close range after the impressive Alvaro Negredo flicked his header towards the Ivorian international in the box. It got worse after the break for Manchester United, as City made it 3-0 straight from the interval through Sergio Aguero. Kolarov played a through-ball to Negredo, and it was good work from the Spaniard in the area saw him tee up Aguero unmarked to score less than two minutes into the second-half. A swift counter attack then saw winger Jesus Navas travel 50 yards with the ball on the right-hand side, and his cross was met by Samir Nasri in the area who cooly slotted home to make it 4-0 on 50 minutes. Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney scored a fine free-kick to restore some pride, but it was too little to late for the visitors. The victory saw Manchester City finishing the day in third place, while United slumped to 8th in the league.
