Man City Complete £8 Million Fabian Delph Signing

The Aston Villa captain has joined the Sky Blues after performing shock U-turn ...

Manchester City have confirmed the signing of England international midfielder Fabian Delph, just days after the 25-year-old had publicly declared would not be leaving Aston Villa this summer. The former Leeds youngster was reportedly on the verge of joining City in an £8m last week, until pulling out of the move at the last moment. However, after seemingly gaining the assurances he needed, Delph has signed a long-term five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium after undergoing a medical in Manchester earlier in the day. He will will wear the number 18 shirt for his new club. Speaking to MCFC.co.uk about the news, Manuel Pellegrini said:
"Fabian Delph is an excellent player, and I am looking forward to working with him. He has made a huge impact in recent seasons at Aston Villa, and is now one of the brightest young midfielders in the Premier League. "Fabian has tremendous skill and energy, and the fact that he has become a regular member of the England squad is further evidence of his progress over the past few seasons. At just 25 years old, he still has his best years ahead of him."
Delph is City's second major buy of the summer following Raheem Sterling's English record arrival from Liverpool.
