According to numerous sources, Man City have secured a five-year deal for 26-year old Napoli playmaker Jorginho. The midfielder (full name: Jorge Luiz Frello Filho) netted three times in 35 appearances for the Serie A side last season.

It's not necessarily goals that Pep Guardiola wants him for though, and Sports Mole are alleging that Jorginho couldn't resist linking up with the celebrated former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss in England.

In the same report, Italy's Gazzetta della Sport said Napoli will bag around €50 million for Jorginho's services, and the Brazilian-born Italian will start training at City immediately following this summer's World Cup finals; of course, Italy didn't make the finals, so Jorginho will have ample rest before moving to City.

The Premier League champions will be eager to avoid falling into the same trap as Chelsea did last season. Without the aid of fresh faces to inject energy into their title defence, the London club failed to even qualify for this season's Champions League.

Guardiola will be mindful not to make the same mistakes as Antonio Conte. Signing Jorginho is a step towards ensuring City have another successful campaign.
