Man City Transfer News: Jesus Navas Joins Pending Medical

BBC Sport, Sevilla have accepted a transfer offer from Manchester City for winger Jesus Navas, a deal which will be completed once the 27-year-old passes his medical. The La Liga club confirmed the departure on their official website:

€œNavas, after 10 seasons in the first team and performance that puts him as the best end of the story of Nervion, wants to continue his successful career in English football, more specifically at a club where he can continue to grow as a player, as already stated publicly on several occasions in recent months.€ "Sevilla accepted an offer from the English club on Monday, taking into account the desire of the player, who will now have to pass a medical. "Navas wants to continue his successful sporting career in English football, more precisely at a club at which he can continue to develop as a footballer, as he has publicly stated on various occasions in recent months."
The move is believed to be worth around £17 million with adds-on which could see the fee rise to £24 million. Subject to a medical, Navas will sign a five-year deal with the Blue side of Manchester, making him the first City signing of the summer. Navas' debut was against Espanyol just under 10-years-ago and since then the player has played over 350 times in a Sevilla shirt. At just 27-years-old he still has several peak years left in his career and Manchester City are hoping that he can help the club regain the Premier League title from rivals Manchester United. The Spaniard has won 20 caps for his country and was included in Spain's 2010 World Cup and 2012 Euro tournament winning squads. For such a highly regarded player, he hasn't played for his country as many times as he should have, partly due to a fear of travelling away from his Andalusian home in his earlier career, a problem he has reportedly overcome. Malaga boss, Manuel Pellegrini has a €˜verbal agreement€™ with Manchester City to be appointed the next manager of the club, but as the 59-year-old has not yet been confirmed as the City boss, it is unclear if he had any say in the deal.
