Man City Transfer News: Juventus Join Race For Carlos Tevez

Mirror. The Serie A winners have also identified Real Madrid's out-of-favour Gonzalo Higuain as a potential target as The Old Lady plot an assault on the Champions League next season. However, the club's sporting director Beppe Marotta said of the two players:

€œI have to say that Higuain is a bit younger and has a higher market value. Tevez on the other hand has a year left on his contract so maybe between the two, the Tevez deal is easier."
With Tevez out of contract in 2014, along with the uncertainty currently surrounding the Etihad as to who the new manager will be, the Argentinian could be tempted into a move to Italy and has always longed for a move away from the Premier League. Marotta continued:
€œWe are not the first to notice his quality and experience. He is a player with a big desire to rebuild his career. Nevertheless, he is owned by City and we have made no approach to them. It is obvious that even in the event of an agreement with the player, the club still has an important say.€
Tevez signed a five-year deal with City in 2009 following his controversial switch from city rivals Manchester United, but the former Red Devil openly admits interest from the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco could lead to his departure. He told French TV station Telefoot:
€œThere was interest from PSG for me, and we talked with Leonardo, but we could not reach an agreement. €˜But it remains an interesting option as the French championship is moving very fast. If Leonardo called me, it€™s not a problem for me to come, really no problem to come to Paris and France.€™
Of a potential move to Monaco, who have just been promoted back into Ligue 1, Tevez added:
"For me, Monaco is one of the largest French clubs, and any player would go there. "I have a one-year contract left at City and I am happy, and I love playing in the Premier League - but a project like Monaco I really like. "I know (Claudio) Ranieri and he has proven he is a great coach so for me this would be great."
Tevez has endured a controversial stay in Manchester since moving from West Ham in 2007. Upon joining United, there were concerns over third-party ownership and upon his move to City, a large banner featuring the Argentinian's image with the words "welcome to Manchester" was unveiled in the city. During his stay at the Etihad, he once refused to come off the bench in a Champions League clash with Bayern Munich, before going into exile under ex-manager Roberto Mancini. However, he would later return to the fold and help his side to the Premier League title last season.
