Man United Transfer News: Robin Van Persie £20 Million Deal Agreed
Personal terms and the passing of a medical are all that stands in the way of the 29-year-old making the switch to Old Trafford.
Manchester United have agreed a deal with Arsenal to sign Robin van Persie, according to The Club's website. Personal terms and the passing of a medical are all that stands in the way of the 29-year-old making the switch to Old Trafford. The Red Devils have been chasing the player all summer, since the Dutchman revealed in July that he would not be extending his contract with the club. Rivals and Premier League Champions Manchester City were also keen on last season's Golden Boot Winner and PFA Player of the Year, whilst Juventus had also shown an interest. Arsenal rejected transfer bids from all three teams, with boss Arsene Wenger holding out for £30million. But Sir Alex Ferguson has finally got his man, with the BBC reporting the Reds have signed the player in a £24million deal on a four year contract. Other reports on Wednesday said the deal was in the £20 million mark. Whilst enjoying a sensational domestic season with the Gunners, van Persie suffered a comparatively miserable one with his National side. Holland were eliminated from the Euro 2012 Group Stages and finished bottom of the group, and he is expected to be on the bench tonight as the Netherland's take on Belgium in a friendly. He is then expected to head to Old Trafford for a medical and discuss personal terms with the club. A short statement on the club's website read:
"Manchester United is pleased to announce it has reached agreement for the transfer of Robin Van Persie. The deal is subject to a medical and the agreement of personal terms. A further announcement will be made in due course."
