England left-back Ashley Cole has already made one controversial switch from a top Premier League club to their big rivals when he swapped Arsenal for Chelsea some years back, and now comes word from The Daily Mail that it could happen again.
The 31-year-old defender has yet to begin talks over a new contract at Chelsea despite his current deal expiring in a year’s time where he would be able to join any club on a free transfer. The stalling over a new deal has alerted Manchester United who are on the lookout for a new left-back with Sir. Alex Ferguson believing Patrice Evra has lost some of his pace. Despite both players being 31, Ferguson believes Cole is just about as quick as he ever was and is still the best left-back in the league, perhaps even in Europe. He is still a great defender that adds an attacking threat going forward and Ferguson has been a long-time admirer of his.
The reports in the Mail also claim that Manchester City, Real Madrid and both of the Milan teams are also monitoring the situation and could make a move.
If Cole decides he wants to leave, Chelsea would likely sell Cole to recoup a fee and Manchester United could well be interested in a decent money-offer. United’s first choice for a new left-back is reportedly Everton’s Leighton Baines but the Merseyside club’s £15 million valuation has so far priced out the Red Devils from making a move.
Ashley Cole has spent six seasons at Chelsea and has made over 250 appearances. He is perhaps one of the modern era’s most successful ever English players not to have played for Manchester United having won the Premier League on 3 occasions, the Champions League, the FA cup 7 times, the League cup and is two appearances away from making 100 appearances for England.

What rubbish….united never buy such aged players….baines is the way to go…….you never ever buy a player who is 31
WUM. NFT.
what a beautiful lies, I do not wish to see or read this type of rubbish news because it’s all nothing but huge lies. Manchester United and it’s board members should respect their self’s for once.
To say Cole is one of the best in Europe is a gross exageration, at best he’d be a good squad player for united but only in a years time when he’d be on a free transfer. Doubt there’s any substance to this article.
It is a deliberate lie. I can’t believe Cole would opt out of the Blues.
Uniteds policy is to buy young players and develop them, Cole is way to old and inconsistent, even as a free transfer wages would be high and we would do better with a younger less experienced left back.
Inconsistent maybe you didn’t mean to put the “In” before consistent. Did you just read the same article? 250 appearances in 6 seasons u utter moron!
Cole may be old but inconsistent? What have you been smoking? He’s the most consistently good defender in the league, also probably the best left back in the world. He’s started like over 95 games for england, what does that tell you?
Rob.. I’m a man u fan.. Name me three better left backs in Europe my friend..
too old to be rated as 15 million.. he’s below than 10 for a 31 year-old player.. SAF will not buy him.. rubbish..
abomination move
it cannot happen
Thank you praj.. These lads obviously don’t understand football.. And yeh coentrao is.. Olly, minget the lad is from Chelsea and naturally we hate him.. But Ashley can’t even be compared to evra currently.. Ask Laurent blanc who chose cliche over him ;) common even SAF knows evra has lost it.. U think Chelsea have a single damn concern over the lb position.. It’s Ashley that wants to leave, it’d be a GREAT lost to cfc. Ur mental if u think Marcelo can match Ashley cole.. Go and watch Wimbledon my friend..
Cole is one of the best backs in the world and is very consistent you dope somking retard. He will not leave the blues. That is unthinkable for him to be anywhere else but Chelsea. Enough with this complete bs
guys Lahm is a utility player and is a great player,of cause Evra’s legs are weary but we have to scout for a young lad,why dnt u credit the left back of Tot’ham spurs,i cnt write his name though but i think he is a better replacement for Evra!
Man united fans we dn’t need players lk cole
