Man Utd Transfer News: David Moyes Wants Fellaini & Baines In £39 Million Swoop

the Sun. The 50-year old will take over from Sir Alex Ferguson on July 1 and one of his first pieces of business will be to lure £15 million-rated left back Leighton Baines to Old Trafford - with the prospect of making a £39 million double swoop for Fellaini as well. Baines has long been on United's radar though the Premier League champions have thus far stopped short of making an official offer, while Fellaini has a much publicised £24 million release clause inserted in his deal. Everton know they are powerless to stop the soon-to-be-ex Toffee's manager from moving for defender Baines, who is already odds-on to start next season at United. Viewed as the long-term replacement for Patrice Evra, question marks will be raised over the future of the veteran Frenchman. United also need to strengthen their midfield with Paul Scholes likely to join Ferguson in retirement at the end of the current campaign and Ryan Giggs not all that far away either. Fellaini would be the obvious option, with the 25-year old capable of playing both as an attacking midfielder and an enforcer - something of which United have lacked for years. The Belgian has in the past openly admitted he wants to play Champions League football - something which Everton are incapable of providing at this moment of time. Moyes will bid an emotional farewell after 11 years at Goodison Park in the Toffee's final home game of the season against West Ham on Sunday.
