Man Utd Transfer News: Dortmund's Robert Lewandowski Snub Wish

The Sun. The Polish international has been on Sir Alex Ferguson's radar for quite some time now and his 27 strikes in 37 appearances this term makes him one of the most potent forwards in European football. He will be Dortmund's most lethal weapon against Malaga in the first leg of the quarter finals of the Champions League on Wednesday and his teammates are well aware of his value to the team. Along with United, he's also been tracked by Bayern Munich, but veteran keeper Roman Weidenfeller believes he should stay "where he belongs". He said: €œOf course we joke around when we are in different cities in Europe. We make jokes about his next destination but we€™re just joking. Honestly, we would like to keep him here.

€œLewandowski is not only technical, he€™s also very quick and has a feeling for goals, so whenever there€™s a chance he senses it. Every club would be happy to have a player like him. €œThe best place for Lewandowski is here in Dortmund and we hope to keep him. He grew to become a big player here and he belongs to this team. €œThat€™s what makes him so strong and such a strong asset to the team. He should stay because we work as a team and he is such a big part.€
Weidenfeller then joked:
€œBut in training I win every single one versus one. He can€™t score past me.€
Manchester United looked like the front runners for Lewandowski last December but the emergence of Bayern Munich in the race for his signature has complicated matters. Former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola begins his German revolution in the summer and is determined to bring in a few "marquee players" to stamp his authority on Europe and make Bayern a force to be reckoned with again, and sources suggest an unofficial agreement to sign Lewandowski is already in place.
