Is Sir Alex about to beat Liverpool and City to the signing of Arsenal’s contract rebel?
After last night’s League Cup embarrassment at Bradford, there’s more potentially bad news for Arsenal fan today as the Mail Online are reporting that United have joined the race for Walcott to reunite him with former team-mate Robin Van Persie at Old Trafford.
They say that Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to bring in the England winger, who is available on a free in the summer, and that if Walcott is to leave Arsenal, then United would indeed be his first choice. The Mail suggest he is keen to stay at Arsenal, but that his desire for a £100k a week deal is some way away from the five-year deal worth £75,000 a week he has been offered.
If Walcott fails to sign a new deal, Arsenal will look to sell him in the January window. United would face competition for his signature from Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea who the Mail say are all interested, but they are currently in the driving seat.
Meanwhile the Mail say Arsene Wenger is looking at a move for United winger Nani, which could open the possibility of a swap deal with Walcott. Failing that, according to the Mail, he could be available for around £8million thanks to his expiring contract.

Man utd should sign theo walcott but keep nani
Man Utd should by theo walcott but keep Nani
I DONT LIKE WALCOTT TO PLAY FOR MAN UTD I LOVE PORTO RODRIGUES AND JUVENTUS VIDAL
united should definitly buy walcott let nani go hes just terrible way too inconsistent and walcott is a good finisher get rid of nani get walcott
Nani has been terrible for some time now.
the problem with walcott is that he wants to be a striker and he doesnt track back much. certainly not compared to valencia.
he is good in a 4-3-3 but not so great in a 4-2-4/4-4-2 that united favour. if he doesnt track back that makes a lot of work for raphael and pulls the CMs out of position.
and, would he start ahead of valencia? i would prefer a proper LW/LM and to be honest we need a new CB much more anyway. vidic and rio cant cut it any more.
