Man Utd Transfer News: Fergie Leading Race For Walcott

Mail Online are reporting that United have joined the race for Walcott to reunite him with former team-mate Robin Van Persie at Old Trafford. They say that Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to bring in the England winger, who is available on a free in the summer, and that if Walcott is to leave Arsenal, then United would indeed be his first choice. The Mail suggest he is keen to stay at Arsenal, but that his desire for a £100k a week deal is some way away from the five-year deal worth £75,000 a week he has been offered. If Walcott fails to sign a new deal, Arsenal will look to sell him in the January window. United would face competition for his signature from Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea who the Mail say are all interested, but they are currently in the driving seat. Meanwhile the Mail say Arsene Wenger is looking at a move for United winger Nani, which could open the possibility of a swap deal with Walcott. Failing that, according to the Mail, he could be available for around £8million thanks to his expiring contract. Do you think United should sign Walcott? Share your thoughts below.
