Man Utd Transfer News: Rafael To Quit United For Brazil?

Daily Star. Sources in Brazil say the 23-year-old is seriously considering his position in the squad and could be about to return to his home country in the January transfer window if he does not feel settled. Corinthians are believed to be keen on the right-back, as they step up their pursuit of a replacement for the retiring 34-year-old veteran Alessandro. Rafael is understood to be weighing up his options and his position in the squad with the likes of Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Johnny Evans able to play in his position. United also signed rookie right-back Guillermo Varela in June. The Brazilian has not played for the English champions once this season as he is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, and has seen his position filled by Smalling and Jones during his absence. Rafael has a contract at Old Trafford that runs for another three years and does not expire until 2016, but any personal feelings on the player's part could prove key to him leaving the Premier League outfit.
