Man Utd Transfer News: Rooney Could Go To Rivals City For £35 Million
Daily Mirror, Manchester United are ready to sell Wayne Rooney for as little as £35 million this summer. Sir Alex Ferguson surprised everyone when he revealed his team sheet for the Real Madrid clash on Tuesday, which saw Wayne Rooney left on the bench. The decision to not start Rooney in one of Manchester Uniteds biggest games of the season has sparked speculation that Rooney, 27, may be on his way out of Old Trafford. The Mirror say that Rooney was furious at the decision to keep him on the bench which has sparked rumours of a bust up between United number ten and Sir Alex. The England striker joined The Red Devils in 2004 for £27 million at the age of just 18-years-old from Premier League side Everton, and since then has made 394 appearances in a United jersey scoring 195 goals for the Manchester side. With United having the likes of Robin van Persie, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez, United are now looking to maximise their return on Rooney who The Mirror, and many other outlets see as coming to the end of his United career, especially with his contract running out at the end of the 2014-15 season. United are willing to listen to offers of around £35 million with Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and even rivals Manchester City all said to be interested. That fee would then be reinvested in the squad, according to the Mirror. This isn't the first time that Rooneys future has been in jeopardy after he revealed in 2010 he wanted to leave due to the clubs lack of ambition. Months later he ended up signing a new five-year deal keeping him at the club until 2015.
