Man Utd Transfer News: Van Persie Wants Wayne Rooney's Wage
Arsenal captain Robin Van Persie would join Manchester United if he can match Wayne Rooney’s £220,000-a-week salary.
Mail Online reports that Arsenal captain Robin Van Persie would join Manchester United if he can match Wayne Rooneys £220,000-a-week salary. The 28-year-olds future has been a talking point all season, and with the likes of Juventus, Manchester City and Manchester United all fighting for his signature it has been unclear where the Dutchman will play his football next season. Manchester United have recently been named favourites to land the striker and the Mail Online believes the deal could happen, under the condition Van Persie is rewarded with a lucrative contract. Van Persie turned down a £130,000-a-week contract renewal with Arsenal at the beginning of the summer and has made it clear he has no long term future at the Emirates. His contract at Arsenal runs out in 12 months. Arsenal have stated they would require at least £30 million for the 28-year-old services and whilst Van Persie may join United for a huge salary, he could be offered even more if he joined Uniteds noisy neighbours and Premier League champions Manchester City who have deeper pockets than anyone else in the league. Arsenal have already delved into the transfer window by signing Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud, and manager Arsene Wenger has hinted that the signing of two La Liga players is imminent.
