Man Utd Transfer News: Victor Wanyama To Old Trafford?

Sun. Ferguson watched the Kenyan at Celtic Park on Tuesday night when he scored from a close-range header in a 4-0 win over Dundee United. The Red Devils have also watched him play in every single one of Celtic's Champions League games this season, including the 2-1 win over Barcelona, in which Wanyama scored. The 6ft 2in star is a powerful defensive midfielder who can also play at centre-back. His robust frame makes him skilled in holding up the ball with his strength and United need a tough midfield enforcer. Midfielder Darren Fletcher has been ruled out for the rest of the season following surgery to resolve his ulcerative colitis condition, whilst Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs are nearing retirement. Anderson has also battled for match fitness this season, as has Shinji Kagawa. It seems then that a new midfielder is precisely what Manchester United are looking for at this crucial stage of the Premier League season. But Ferguson will face stiff competition from Arsenal with Arsene Wenger believing the Kenyan international is the player he needs to add steel to his midfield at the Emirates. And Celtic manager Neil Lennon will be reluctant to let Wanyama go having bought him for just £900,000 in 2011.
