Man Utd Transfer News: Wilfried Zaha Move Hit By Football League Probe

Mirror. The deal was thought to be virtually complete after Sir Alex Ferguson agreed a £15 million swoop for the winger, and has also agreed to loan the England international back to Selhurst Park for the remainder of the season. However, the Football League are now involved and want to see the paperwork on the transfer before checking their rule book, as they have clamped down on these sorts of transfers in recent times. The rule in question is Football League Section 6, paragraph 46.4, with the €˜executive€™ needing to approve the switch and return. Ferguson has not joined his squad€™s trip to Qatar for four-days of warm weather training in the build-up to their FA Cup clash with Fulham at the weekend so that he could stay behind and finalise the deal for Zaha. And he will be left sweating over the Football League's ruling as the move is cast into uncertainty. Crystal Palace Co-Chairman Steve Parish has assured the South London club's fans that Zaha will play for them for the rest of their promotion campaign. But that might not be a possible scenario anymore. Ferguson is understood to be willing to keep the player at Old Trafford after the signing, but for Palace that is a different matter entirely. They are 4th in the Championship at the moment, just two points adrift of second placed Leicester, and do not want to sell one of their key players as they battle for promotion to the Premier League. United might instead have to loan out one or two of their fringe players in order to find a way around the issue.
