Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson looks set to offer Everton £15million for left-back Leighton Baines as he seeks a replacement for veteran Patrice Evra.
The Daily Mail are reporting that talks have reopened between the two clubs over the players potential availability and Ferguson is said to be “increasingly confident” of landing the England international’s signature.
The two sides have done business before, with Phil Neville swapping Old Trafford for Goodison Park and more notably Wayne Rooney moving from Merseyside to Manchester in the past, whilst David Moyes and Ferguson are said to have a good relationship.
The Mail say that finding a replacement for left-back Patrice Evra, 31, has been one of Ferguson’s top priorities of late, and Baines is his preferred choice. The club had also been linked with a shock move for left-back Ashley Cole, who is set to join midfielder Frank Lampard in departing Stamford Bridge in the New Year.
Ferguson will face competition for Baines however – the Mail say that a senior Arsenal scout went to watch him in Everton’s 2-1 win over West Ham recently, whilst Chelsea are also in the hunt for a new left-back given the aforementioned departure of Ashley Cole.
Paris St Germain are also believed to be keen.

I’d be intrigued to know what else is included in the offer? £15mil? That’s an absolute joke. Our best player for 2 season, assists and goals he contributes as well as link up play with Peanuts couldn’t be replaced for that. We sold Rodwell for £12mil and he’s barely played a game. And do I need to remind people that when the likes of Downing, Henderson got for £20mil, Carrol £35mil and Adam £20mil…..£15 is half of what he is worth to us.
This is utter nonsense, as the previous poster commented, Baines is statistically speaking the best left back in Europe, he has been for the last two seasons. If you wanted Lahm for instance then you’d be looking at 27mil, Baines as worth 32-35mil.

The decline of the East side blues scene was disheartening, but, it also gave rise to the need for a fresh start, which came in the form of the next blues-only venue, Antone’s, founded by the late Clifford Antone, during the summer of 1975.
