Man Utd Transfers: Red Devils Favourites To Sign Falcao

Could Van Gaal pip City and Arsenal to a mega-bucks deal?

Despite a seemingly incriminating tweet from the Colombian striker suggesting that he was on his way to sign for Real Madrid - hastily deleted, of course - it seems that Radamel Falcao is more likely to join a Premier League club in a last minute deal. The powerful Monaco forward is available on a loan - or an astronomically expensive permanent deal - and has been offered to a host of top Premier League clubs, with Liverpool already turning down the opportunity. Having initially suspended betting on Falcao joining Madrid in light of his tweet, SkyBet have now re-opened the book and made Louis Van Gaal's Manchester United the favourites ahead of their city rivals to capture the striker. He would either cost £20m for a single season loan (plus £10m in wages), or a figure more like £60m to bring him in permanently, and suits any rich team looking to bring in guaranteed goals. Arsenal had been thought to be front-runners, but the financials might well put Wenger off, while City would have to do some outgoing business first in order to fit in with their financial fair play restrictions of £49m. Having already spent £24m, it would presumably be necessary to sell Alvaro Negredo to allow any move for Falcao. Are you happy with this link? Would Falcao be the best option for Van Gaal?
