Steven Taylor's 19-year association with Newcastle could come to an end this summer with the defender reportedly a target for newly-promoted QPR. With the Club planning a major clear out of deadwood during the pre-season months it looks as if Taylor could be one of the first casualties after the Chronicle linked him with a move to Loftus Road following the R's ascension to the Premier League at the weekend. A price of £5 million has been quoted for the 28-year-old, which would constitute sound business for a player that has slipped down the pecking order at St James' Park after losing his place in the heart of the back-four to Mike Williamson at the start of the season. Quite frankly Taylor has become more of a courtyard jester than defender in recent seasons with his vapid attempts to curry favour with the Toon faithful now eliciting groans of derision from the wise Toon faithful and was exposed as a sub-standard centre-back on many an occasion last season. He was announced on the Club's retained list last week - and still has two years to run on his contract - but the writing appears to be on the wall for Taylor and should QPR meet our asking price we doubt the Club would hesitate to accept.
