Newcastle Transfer News: Papiss Cisse And Moussa Sissoko Likely To Lead Magpies Exodus

Newcastle United could still secure their Premier League future on the final day of the Premier League season and yet five of the club's star names already appear to be racing for the exit door. Leading scorer Papiss Cisse, want-away midfielder Moussa Sissoko and the perennially-injured Cheick Tiote are just three of the Magpies' leading stars who have asked their agents to actively court moves. As well as claiming those three are seeking to find pastures new, The Telegraph reports that Dutch internationals Tim Krul and Daryl Janmaat are also contemplating their futures on Tyneside.

Goalkeeper Krul has been at Newcastle since 2006 but the 27-year-old is believed to have become disillusioned with the club's constant struggles at the wrong end of the table, while Janmaat did not expect a relegation fight in the North East when arriving from Feyenoord for £6 million last summer. Cisse, meanwhile, has netted 11 times in the Premier League for Newcastle this season and is the only natural finisher at the club, yet the Senegalese striker will be 30 by June and he has been struggling with a knee injury for the majority of the season. The Magpies event touted selling Cisse to Russian clubs in January, so they seem resigned to losing him. Alternatively, Sissoko's desire to leave the North East will come as no surprise to the Toon faithful, with the 25-year-old French international having made no secret of his ambition to move to Arsenal - although whether the Gunners would be interested in him is a completely different matter.

Finally, Tiote looks likely to leave Tyneside this summer as well, with the 28-year-old Ivorian having been out for several months with a variety of injuries. Should all these players move on and Newcastle remain in the Premier League, the Magpies will be left with a threadbare squad from which to rebuild - but those wanting away may already have accepted that the club will be playing Championship football next season...
